Stop & Shop employee arrested for adding gift cards to orders

A Stop & Shop worker was arrested on Saturday, April 11 after his manager caught him adding gift cards to his customers purchases without their consent.
According to police, Jabari Dear, of Norwalk was caught adding a $25 gift card to the end of a customers order on Saturday, before keeping the card for himself.
The customer paid for their purchase and unwittingly paid for Dear’s gift card, as well, police said.
Stop & Shop is currently investigating to see whether Dear had done this in the past and will pursue charges if he has, police said.
He was officially arrested for sixth-degree larceny and illegal use of a credit card. He was released on a promise to appear, and is due in court on Tuesday, April 21.
