State police stop 4,504 motorists over Thanksgiving weekend

Connecticut State Police increased patrols this Thanksgiving weekend, with a focus on drunk and aggressive driving.

Between Wednesday, Nov. 23, and Sunday, Nov. 27, state troopers made 56 drunk driving arrests and issued 1,007 speeding tickets, 450 tickets for seatbelt violations and 2,991 tickets for other hazardous moving violations.

State police also investigated 496 accidents — 56 of which were with injury and one with two fatalities.

Wilton police stopped 89 motorists between Wednesday and Sunday, and investigated six accidents, including two with injury and one resulting in a DUI arrest.
