Monday, 4:24 p.m. — Both River Road and Horseshoe Road in Wilton Center are closed following an accident in which an SUV went into Horseshoe Pond at around 3:40 Monday afternoon, April 27. All occupants reportedly were able to exit the car, but several people were taken by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital.
According to witnesses, the SUV was stopped at a stop sign at River and Horseshoe Roads when a car behind it did not stop, pushing the SUV into the water.
The Wilton fire and police dive team is on the scene, along with other emergency responders, and a crane has been called in to extricate the SUV.
Cars cannot get to Wolfpit Road from this area.
