A routine traffic stop for an improper number of headlamps led to the seizure of more than a pound of marijuana and other drugs Oct. 16 at 2:36 a.m. on Danbury Road.

Police said Jazmine McCabe, 18, of 6 Lakeview Road, Brookfield, was charged with no headlamp, possession of a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia and held on $5,000 bond with a court date the same day.

Her passenger, Mateus Nascimento-Dacosta, 19, of 5 Crown Street, Danbury, was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia and held on $15,000 bond with a court date the same day.

Police said that after they pulled the car over for having a headlamp  out, they detected the odor of burnt marijuana and a search of the vehicle and its occupants led to the seizure of 1.125 pounds of marijuana in the trunk, plus one ounce of concentrated THC wax, 28 THC liquid refills for e-cigarette, and five Xanax pills, an anti-anxiety medication used for its barbiturate effect.
