Police Log: DUI, larceny at the Y, car burglary

YMCA larceny
An 83-year-old member of the Wilton YMCA reported his locker had been broken into and $200 cash was stolen from his wallet Oct. 10 between the hours of 2:26 and 4:10 p.m. No other items were reported missing and no other lockers were broken into.

Car burglary
The passenger-side window of a vehicle was smashed and a purse containing $550, three credit cards and other miscellaneous items was stolen Oct. 11 at 1:45 p.m. from the Town and Country outdoor shop, 659 Danbury Road.

A gray Honda CR-V bearing Connecticut partial registration 973 was seen parking next to the unoccupied vehicle at the time, occupied by one male.
Police followed a car for half a mile before the driver ultimately pulled over and was arrested for driving under the influence.

Police said Nancy Cahoon, 60, of 20 Forest Hill Road, Darien, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane after the pullover Oct. 12 at 9:30 p.m. on Danbury Road.

Her blood alcohol content was 0.1635. The legal limit is 0.08.

The police had responded to a motor vehicle complaint originating in Ridgefield about the car traveling south on Danbury Road in an erratic manner.
Disorderly conduct
A 66-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y., man was charged with disorderly conduct Oct. 13 at 6:05 a.m. after becoming unruly as a house guest at 721 Ridgefield Road.

Police said John Ittner, of 378 Adelphi Street, Brooklyn, became aggressive and confrontational when a car blocked his vehicle in the driveway as he attempted to leave. He was aggressive with police as well. He was held on $300 bond until appearing in court later that morning.
A 21-year-old Wilton woman was charged with driving under the influence Oct. 13 at 2:11 a.m. at 134 Olmstead Hill Road after she was involved in a crash.

Police said they were dispatched to the scene and noticed the driver had driven her vehicle off the roadway and into a line of trees. They detected an odor of alcohol and she failed a standard field sobriety test. Her blood alcohol content was 0.1304.

Melissa Brunner, 21, of 92 Turtlehead Road, was held on $260 bond with a court date the same day.

The Wilton Police Department responded to no domestic cases during the week of Oct. 10 to Oct. 17.
