Impaired driver has close call with police cruiser
A Danbury man was arrested for DUI April 10 after his car swerved and almost hit a parked Wilton police cruiser.
Around 6 a.m., Johny Fernando Castro-Fajardo, 31, of 27 Meadow Street, was northbound in his 2000 GMC van on Danbury Road near School Street when he swerved right and came “close to the side of a police cruiser parked at the east side of Danbury Road,” police said.
After stopping Castro-Fajardo, police smelled alcohol and had him take a field sobriety test, which he did not perform to standard. The driver refused breath testing, police said.
Police arrested Castro-Fajardo on the charges of DUI, failure to drive right, and driving without a valid driver’s license. He was later released on a promise to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on April 21.
