When one driver couldn’t wait for another driver to make a left turn, an accident occurred, stopping traffic on Ridgefield Road near Rossimur Court the afternoon of April 14 for about 30 minutes.

According to police, the driver of a northbound 2013 Fiat was stopped, attempting to make a left-hand turn into a residential driveway around 2:38 p.m. Thursday.

While the driver was waiting to turn, the driver of a northbound 2009 Honda Pilot attempted to pass the Fiat, without waiting for it to turn, by swerving into the opposite, southbound lane.

As the Honda began to pass, the Fiat began to turn, and the two vehicles collided.

The Fiat sustained front-axle damage, and the driver of the at-fault Honda had to be hospitalized, police said.

Ruts on the shoulder of the road appear to indicate that the at-fault driver actually drove his car up onto the southbound curb to avoid the Fiat’s lawful left-hand turn.

Police said the driver of the Honda was issued an infraction for passing in a no-passing zone.

A police report for this incident has not yet been compiled.
