An accident at the problematic intersection of Route 7 and Grumman Hill Road on March 14 sent the at-fault driver to the hospital.

A 16-year-old girl was driving her 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser south on Route 7 around 2 p.m. when she attempted to turn left onto Grumman Hill Road, police said.

As she made the turn, her car was hit head-on by a Mack truck, which had been northbound on Route 7. Both vehicles were significantly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

The teenaged driver of the Toyota was injured and taken to Norwalk Hospital. She was issued an infraction for failing to yield to oncoming traffic.

Police said she believed she had more time to make the turn than she actually did.
