Driver runs red light, gets charged with DUI

John S. Belfatto, 47, of 115 Portland Avenue, Redding, ran a red light July 7 at 12:37 a.m. at the intersection of Danbury Road and Station Road and was charged with DUI after a traffic stop revealed him to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
Belfatto admitted to running the light, and also told the investigating officer that he had had a “couple” of drinks, according to police.
Belfatto failed to adequately perform a field sobriety test and refused a Breathalyzer test. He was charged with DUI.
Belfatto was also charged with failure to obey a traffic signal and was released on a promise to appear at the Norwalk Superior Court on July 18.
