A Redding man was arrested for DUI on Feb. 13 after pulling over at the scene where his wife was in the process of being arrested for the same charge.
Sophie M. Mond, 36, of 66 Drummers Lane, Redding, was seen driving her 2008 Mazda3 northbound on Route 7 at a high rate of speed around 1 a.m., police said. When the officer who saw the Mazda speeding caught up with it, he saw it swerving and signaled it to stop.
Shortly thereafter, police said, Mond’s husband, Daniel Mond, 36, of the same address, pulled over to check on his wife. But the officer smelled alcohol and both Daniel and Sophie Mond were tested for sobriety.
They did not perform their tests to standard and were both arrested for DUI. An inventory of Daniel Mond’s 2007 Subaru Forester revealed a small amount of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Daniel Mond was charged with DUI, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sophie Mond was charged with DUI and failure to keep right around a curve. Both were taken into custody and released on promises to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Feb. 23.
