Domestic cases get added layer of privacy
Cases of domestic violence or domestic verbal disputes are getting an added layer of privacy protection from the police department.
Since June 22, police are blacking out the addresses of where the incidents take place as they appear on the daily police log.
Many victims live at the same address as the assailant in these domestic cases.
“Knowing the address, you can pretty much figure out who it was,” said Lt. Robert Kluk, spokesman for the department.“We’re trying to protect the victim.”
It is not a police department policy, but an adherence to state statutes, said Capt. Robert Cipolla.
Domestic violence and verbal arguments within families are not infrequent police calls in Wilton. Within the past week there were three reported cases of domestic verbal altercations.
