The Wilton Police Department reports it began a “distracted driving” initiative Monday, July 6, that will continue through July 19.
During this two-week period, officers will be on the lookout for distracted driving issues and will enforce violations during routine patrol assignments.
They watch for violations such as talking on a cell phone without using a hands-free device, texting while driving and any other distractions that affect a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely.
“The Wilton Police Department remains attentive to issues that endanger public/community safety one of which being distracted driving,” a press release said. “It is our hope to educate the public, be visible as a reminder/deterrent to the public and to assist those traversing our roadways to do so safely.”
