After receiving a complaint that a 2003 Infiniti G35 traveling slowly up Danbury Road on Jan. 10 had almost hit multiple cars and was swerving, police responded and found the driver under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
Stopped near Seeley Road around 1 a.m., the driver, Peter Shanazu, 72, of 881 Burroughs Road, Fairfield, was administered a field sobriety test that he did not perform to standard, and a breath analysis showed him to have had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.174. The legal limit is 0.08.
Shanazu was charged with DUI and failure to drive right around a curve and was taken into custody. He was released on a promise to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Jan. 21.
