DUI crash causes fire
A 55-year-old Norwalk woman was charged with driving under the influence Oct. 23 at 10:32 p.m. after striking a tree on Old Highway on the way home from a party at Rolling Hills Country Club.
Police said Suzette Guzman was not injured, but refused to submit to a blood alcohol test. She was also charged with failure to drive in the proper lane and was released on $250 bond with a court date of Nov. 2.
The fire department had to put out a brief fire after the tree struck electrical wires.
A 36-year-old Stamford woman was charged with driving under the influence, operating under suspension, and defective brake lights Oct. 19 at 8:17 p.m. on Danbury Road near Westport Road.
Police said Ada Moreno, of 260 Matuk Road, Stamford, was observed operating with a defective brake light. Upon stopping, she showed signs of impairment. After refusing to perform a field sobriety test she was taken to police headquarters for processing. Her blood alcohol content was 0.1759. The legal limit is 0.08.
She was released on a promise to appear in court Oct. 30.
The Wilton Police Department responded to two domestic verbal cases and one case of domestic violence, which is still under investigation, during the week of Oct. 17 to Oct. 24.
