$40,000 in jewelry missing from Avalon condo

A resident of the Route 7 Avalon Condominiums was robbed of approximately $40,000 in jewelry sometime before 5:35 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, police said Tuesday.

There was no sign of forced entry in the condo.

Included among the jewelry was an antique diamond and silver bracelet valued at $9,000, a Tiffany’s bracelet, and a Byzantine bracelet, both valued at $3,000.

The 31-year-old resident lived alone in her condominium, and was preparing to move out when the jewelry was stolen.

Police say the resident’s move-out inspection was planned to occur in the days after the theft, but had actually taken place the day of the robbery without the resident in attendance.

They are currently in discussion with the Avalon management company about the theft.

The investigation remains open.
