$20,000 construction vehicle stolen from construction site

Wilton police reported a New Holland C175 skid-tracked vehicle was stolen from a Polito Construction site on Cannon Road sometime between 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 12, and 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 13. The vehicle’s value is estimated at around $20,000.

Police believe, based on mud tracks left by the vehicle, it was driven off the property, down Cannon Road, along Springbrook Lane and Seeley Road before being loaded up and driven away. Due to the size of the vehicle, police Capt. John Lynch said the investigating officers believe either a heavy truck, or a flatbed trailer was used in the equipment’s removal.

Capt. Lynch said the theft of these vehicles is fairly regular because they are very common on construction sites, and are not required to be registered with the state.

Three electrical panel boxes, and a spool of electrical wire were also stolen at the site.

Anyone with information regarding the theft is encouraged to call the Wilton Police Department at 203-834-6260.
