Wiltonian creates NRVT video tour

Geoff Keating became Troop 125’s 112th scout to receive the Eagle Scout Award — the highest rank in Boy Scouts — during a Court of Honor ceremony Sunday, June 14.
Geoff, who has been a Boy Scout for about 10 years, created a video tour of the new Norwalk River Valley Trail in Wilton for his Eagle Scout Service Project.
The video can be viewed here.
Geoff, who graduated from Wilton High School in June, said he became familiar with the trail as a member of the school’s track team.
“In track, we would run on these trails, so I had already heard of the trail and wanted to help out,” said Geoff, who ran on the team for four years. “I also have an interest in videography, so it seemed like the right project.”
Geoff said he began working on his project last June and “really started making progress” in the beginning of September.
“I had to plan, [create a] storyboard, and produce a video about the trail,” said Geoff, who received help from the Norwalk River Valley Trail Committee, his troop and several of his friends.
The hardest part about the project, Geoff said, was the filming, “just because it took a while to get everything to line up.”
The best part, he said, was seeing the project come together. Geoff completed his project in December and thanks everyone who helped him achieve his goal.
Geoff will be attending the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., this fall.
