The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society presented Wilton High School junior Emma Braten with a prize check and Student of the Year Award for raising $18,000 for the blood cancer charity — the most money raised by a student in the state of Connecticut. Emma decided to raise money and support the society following her mother Maxine's battle with leukemia, and did so by soliciting donations online and holding bake sales.
