Wilton native Ryan Frostig recently appeared in Spring Awakening at the O’Malley Theatre in Chicago.

The show was presented by the Theatre Conservatory at Roosevelt University.

Winner of eight Tony Awards, the rock musical tells the story of teenagers dissevering the trials and tribulations of their lives.

Mr. Frostig, who graduated from Regional Center for the Arts in Trumbull in 2009, stars as the suicidal teen Moritz.

In a statement, he said, “It’s one of the most serious parts I’ve ever played and it’s been a cathartic experience for me.”

The experience was personal for him. He recently lost his mother to cancer which helped him relate to Moritz, he said.

The play completed its brief run on April 21.
