Susan Shultz of Wilton has penned a novelette, The Blacksmith, available as an ebook online through Lillibridge Press (lillibridgepress.com).

“The story centers around a librarian who lives in a small town in Connecticut. She has suffered a lot of losses and struggles to fit in the sometimes-perfect Connecticut world,” said Ms. Shultz, who is editor of The Bulletin’s sister paper, The Darien Times. “What I am most interested in is the reaction I get that people find themselves empathizing with a monster. Is Ainsley a monster? That is up for the reader to decide.

“Connecticut also has a lot of dark roots to it and haunting legends, which also inspired me in writing this book,” Ms. Shultz said. “I hope it entertains people.”

Ms. Shultz lives in Wilton with her husband Jamie, who has a landscaping business, and two children, Lucy, 5, and Annabelle, 3.

The Blacksmith is also available at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com.
