Sunday morning in Wilton: Push-up flash mob
Are you up to doing 22 push-ups?
Adrienne Reedy of Wilton has issued a challenge for this Memorial Day weekend — although she calls it an invitation — to join in a Push-up Flash Mob on Sunday, May 29, at 8 a.m., at the Wilton High School track.
It’s part of the #22 Pushups to Honor Those Who Serve, an effort to raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention through education and empowerment.
“Studies have shown that 22 veterans commit suicide every day,” Reedy says on her Facebook page. “Every push-up counts towards the goal of 22 million push-ups. I’m personally on day 9 of the challenge and I’ve posted each day encouraging others to join me.”
Reedy said her friend Kelly Weldon suggested she make it a community-wide event, and Reedy agreed. Everyone is welcome, whether they do the “girlie or hardcore” push-ups.
“We want people to simply come out and support our efforts of getting the word out! It’s all about awareness!”
