Selectmen reappoint Bloom town counsel
The Board of Selectmen Jan. 8 unanimously approved reappointment of attorney Ira Bloom, of the firm of Berchem Moses PC, as the town counsel. Bloom has been town counsel since December 2016 and will now serve until Nov. 30, 2019.
“It’s been a great year. I tell Ira that all the time,” said First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice, praising Bloom. “He has been doing an outstanding job. He’s very easy to work with and he has been a great help to the Planning and Zoning Commission.”
Bloom has been town attorney for Westport since 1998, New Canaan since 2012, and has served as counsel to Easton and Madison for several years. He has also represented other municipalities, along with numerous applicants and neighborhood associations throughout the state.

He is also a former member of the Connecticut Association of Municipal Attorneys, a member of the Connecticut chapter of the American Planners Association, and a James W. Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation. He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association House of Delegates.
