Officer completes Ironman race

Don’t try to outrun Lt. Stephen Brennan.

The 19-year veteran of the Wilton Police Department, successfully competed in the 16th annual Lake Placid, N.Y. Ironman race on Sunday, July 27.

Ironman is an endurance triathlon event that is 140.6 miles in total. It includes a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run.

Lt. Brennan prepared for the long-distance endurance race by completing a 30-week training program that involved swimming, biking and running , or a combination, six days a week for six to 15 hours per day.

The majority of his training was done beginning at 4 a.m.

The officer is already planning on competing in another race in Maryland next year.
