Leading up to the fourth annual Honorine St. Jude Golf Classic, a charity tournament founded by Wilton resident Scott Gance, there will be two pre-tournament fundraising events.

The first will be a golf challenge at the Ridgefield Golf Performance Center on Route 7, on Saturday, Aug. 24, where attendees may improve all parts of their game prior to the tournament by working with instructors and coaches.

The second is the Honorine Day on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Sunset Grille on the water in East Norwalk. There will be live music and entertainment.

At both events, tournament staff will be on hand to register participants.

The tournament was started in honor of Mr. Gance’s parents, Anthony and Marcelle “Honorine” Gance, who were long-term fund-raisers and supporters of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Mr. Gance’s French middle name “Honorine” was chosen as the cornerstone of the tournament name, because it reflects the dedication, commitment and respect his mother had for the hospital.

The tournament proper will be held at the Silvermine Golf Club in Norwalk on Friday, Sept. 16.
