Hawk will review his Indian tour

International documentary photographer Daryl Hawk of Wilton will give an audio-visual presentation entitled “Ladakh: Land of High Passes” to the Appalachian Mountain Club on Tuesday, Sept. 9,  at The Unitarian Church, 10 Lyons Plain Road, Westport.

The talk will cover Mr. Hawk’s 3,200-mile journey across northern India and Kashmir, from Pakistan to Tibet. He will show photographs of dramatic and rarely seen before landscapes,  ancient Buddhist monasteries and fortresses, sacred lakes, nomads and Drokpas, recently discovered petroglyphs in caves, the royal palace and the people of the kingdom.

Mr. Hawk will also discuss his style, philosophy, and techniques he uses when photographing subject matter. Equipment, lighting on location, environmental portraits, and travel tips on Ladakh will be covered.

Wine and appetizers will be served at 6:30 with the presentation from 7:30 to 8:30 .The cost is $10 for members, $15 for non-members, payable at the door. Participants are asked to bring a dessert to share if they can.
