Erin Cobb of Wilton is one of 18 college students working as interns at the Summer Theatre of New Canaan. The professional company began its 13th season June 25 with the opening of Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach. West Side Story opens July 6.

With education part of the theater group’s mission, it offers an internship program for career track theater arts college students and recent graduates who would like professional experience in their field of interest. The program allows interns to work side by side with professionals and actively participate in delivering a theatrical season.

Cobb is focusing on administration. She is a rising junior at Marymount Manhattan College where she majors in musical theater. For the last month, she has worked preparing for this summer’s season through advertising and ticket sales, among other tasks. She has worked on all shows and programs of this year’s season, including West Side Story, James and the Giant Peach and the new musical Cinderella, A Fairy’s Tale. She has also assisted with the theater’s educational programs such as Junior Company and DramaRamas, a program for middle school-aged children with special needs.

James and the Giant Peach will be presented weekends through July 31.

West Side Story runs Thursday through Sunday, July 6-31.

Cinderella, A Fairy’s Tale opens July 16 and will run in rotation on weekends with James and the Giant Peach through July 31.
