Wilton High School senior Alexander Rappaport had the chance to join Democratic party leaders, elected officials and grassroots activists from across the state at the 2017 Connecticut Democratic Progress Dinner on June 10. The Connecticut Democratic Party's largest annual event was held at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. It was there that Alexander met with Gov. Dannel Malloy, Connecticut's U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, U.S. Reps. Jim Himes (CT-4) and Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman and State Treasurer Denise Nappier, as well as New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker. Alexander is the Wilton Democratic Town Committee's first-ever student intern. Through his internship, Alexander has gained first-hand experience in working to support local Democratic political endeavors and has assisted committee chair Deborah McFadden with daily operations and special events. Alexander will be attending Temple University in Philadelphia in the fall, where he plans to study political science.
