Wilton students named state level PTA Reflections winners

Nine Wilton public school students are among the statewide winners of the 2016 PTA Reflections Program who will be honored at a ceremony on May 11, 7 p.m., at Fairfield Woods Middle School in Fairfield.

The PTA Reflections is a national student arts recognition program, founded in 1969 by the Colorado Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), that encourages and celebrates creativity in schools nationwide by allowing students to express themselves, explore their creativity and develop their talents by engaging in the arts.

Dozens of Wilton Public School students in pre-K through 12th grade were among the hundreds of students across each state to submit entries to their local participating PTAs this year. Students submitted entries in up to six media categories to answer the theme of this year’s Reflections Art Program — "Let Your Imagination Fly."

The following Wilton students place in the high school division:

  • First: Jeromy DiGiacomo, literature.

  • Third: Dilshad Dinshaw, dance.

  • Fourth: Will Comer, music.

Vince Sexton placed second in the special artist high school division for his visual artwork.

At the middle school level, Brycen Addison placed first in music and Mickey Wilcox placed third in literature.

In the intermediate division for grades 3-5, Juliette Casher took first place in photography and Andrey Kosygin placed fourth in visual arts.

Jack Hamilton placed second in literature in the primary division for kindergarten through second grade.

National PTA Reflections winners will be announced in May and the National Awards Celebration will take place at the Annual National PTA Convention on July 2, in Orlando, Fla.

There will also be a National Art Exhibit Opening Ceremony at the U.S. Department of Education on Jan. 10, 2017.
