Wilton education board awarded for leadership


The Wilton Board of Education received the Level One Leadership Award from the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) and Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents (CAPSS) during this year’s CABE/CAPSS Convention.
The annual convention took place Nov. 20 and 21 at the Mystic Marriott in Groton.
According to a CABE press release, its recognition awards are given to boards that exhibit effective leadership through teamwork.
The Wilton board earned the Level One Leadership Award by fulfilling 22 of 34 criteria, which include board leadership and student achievement, board member professional development, policy, community relations, and related organizational leadership.
CABE serves local and regional school districts in Connecticut and its membership includes 154 school districts. CABE advocates for public education in Hartford and Washington, D.C., and offers many types of support services to local boards of education.
CAPSS is a statewide nonprofit educational administration organization whose membership includes Connecticut public school superintendents, assistant superintendents, central office administrative personnel, state department of education officials, and college and university professors.
