Wilton High students place third in WorldQuest

Four Wilton High School students — Dominic Schefers, Jeremy Brewer, Kurt Rubin and Jack Kaelin — took third place in the regional Academic WorldQuest on Feb. 1.

The global affairs and U.S. foreign policy-based knowledge competition took place at the Stamford Campus of the University of Connecticut.

With Barbara Lyons as their academic adviser, the Wilton students competed with nine other high school teams from Fairfield and Westchester counties.

Bronxville High School placed first and the Academy of Information Technology & Engineering placed second.

The local competition was hosted by the Stamford-based World Affairs Forum, whose mission is to expand understanding of global affairs.

The teams focused on six national security issues:

• Cybersecurity;

• U.S. energy policy;

• Global economic realignment;

• The Middle East;

• Global environmental issues;

• U.S. education.

The event was sponsored by MasterCard Worldwide, the Arora Foundation and the Hageman Foundation.
