Update: Thursday, March 19 @ 11:55 a.m. — The tournament has been canceled due to "a scheduling conflict" and the "impeding snowstorm."
Residents interested in having fun for a good cause can join the dodgeball tournament taking place this Saturday, March 21, from 10 to 2, at the Zeoli Fieldhouse at Wilton High School, 395 Danbury Road.
"The event is completely run by our class using class funds raised over the past three years," said Maya Seshan, treasurer of the 2016 class.
The tournament is open to all Wilton residents and the cost to play is $40 per five-person team. Proceeds will go to the class of 2016 to help raise money for their prom and a class gift.
Trophies and prizes, including gift cards to Wilton Sport Shop and Class of 2016 t-shirts, will be awarded to the winning team, and $5 Peachwave gift cards will be given to the best dressed team.
Pinocchio Pizza will be supplying pizza for the event, and Super Stop & Shop will be supplying water, chips and soda.
Ms. Seshan said students of the 2016 class will also be selling cookies, brownies, cupcakes and other baked goods.
As of Wednesday, March 18, six teams registered for the tournament.
"We are anticipating a total of 10-15 teams by Friday," said Ms. Seshan, "and are planning to hold five rounds of games, dependent upon how many teams register in the next few days."
