Susan Paley named Wilton's new school human resources director

Wilton Public Schools has a new human resources and general administration director, Susan Paley.

Superintendent Gary Richards said he worked with Dr. Kevin Smith, Wilton’s future superintendent, to find someone to fill the position.

At the Board of Education’s April 10 meeting, Dr. Richards officially recommended Ms. Paley.

“We’ve had an extensive search for a permanent person for this position and Susan Paley emerged from the 20 applicants,” Dr. Richards told the board.

Ms. Paley told the Board of Education the district’s interview team did “a phenomenal job.”

“It was an extremely challenging interview process that I went through,” she said, “and it’s really a pleasure to be recommended.”

The Board of Education unanimously accepted Dr. Richards’ recommendation and welcomed Ms. Paley to Wilton.

For the past 17 years Ms. Paley has worked for Stamford public schools, where she was most recently an assistant human resources director. Prior to that, she taught fifth and sixth grade math and science, as well as fifth grade social studies.

Ms. Paley was also coordinator of the General Electric College Bound District Program and served as a teacher-partner of a $15.3-million five-year grant.

Ms. Paley has a bachelor of science degree in international relations, as well as a master of science degree in education from SUNY New Paltz.

Ms. Paley also holds a master’s in business administration concentrated in finance and marketing from the University of Connecticut, and a six-year certificate in education administration from the University of Bridgeport.

“She combines a deep educational career with significant corporate, private experience,” said Dr. Richards.

Ms. Paley’s new position as human resources and general administration director goes into effect July 1.
