Middlebrook named Art Partner of the Year

Middlebrook School has been selected as Creative Connections’ 2015 USA Art Partner of the Year.
The school will be honored at the opening of the Spring 2015 International Children’s Art Exhibit at the Maritime Center in Norwalk this May.
“We are very excited to honor Middlebrook School,” said Christina Rose, executive director of Creative Connections. “They were selected for the award based on their overall effectiveness in using art as a medium for expressing and sharing their culture and ideas.”
From May 14 through Sept. 1, the Picture the Moment exhibit will feature 120 selected art pieces from students in the United States and 20 countries, including the following nine Middlebrook students:

  • Karolina Barabash;

  • Matthew Ferro;

  • Madeline Pennino;

  • Alexander Koutsoukos;

  • Niamh McCarthy;

  • Eleanor Winrow;

  • Peyton Matik;

  • Sarah Belcher;

  • Navod Jayawardhane.

“The students demonstrated a depth of thought and critical thinking that was clearly reflected in their art pieces and artist description sheets — written information about themselves and their artwork,” said Rose.
“The International Children’s Art Exhibit will feature nine art pieces from their class — typically, there is only one per class.”
Rose said Middlebrook School will receive special recognition along with the Amir Hasan Prep Girls’ School in Amman, Jordan, which was named the International Art Partner of the Year.
There will be an opening reception for the exhibit on Thursday, May 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
