Les Misérables cast ‘wigs out’

Stage presentations always involve a little theatrical magic, but in the case of Wilton High School’s presentation of Les Misérables, there is quite a bit of magic, particularly when it comes to the characters’ hairstyles.

Tunde Jakab, senior stylist at Fraiche Hair salon, has volunteered to help the small army of parents backstage as they transform approximately 100 young and beautiful high school students into the dirty and bedraggled denizens of Victor Hugo’s Paris.

An experienced hair stylist, wig maker and makeup artist, Ms. Jakab learned her craft in Europe and perfected her skills here in the United States. She is making her mark in town and building up a clientele at the upscale salon on Danbury Road.

She will be backstage with director Sharon Anderson, the costume makers, hair stylists and makeup artists, watching their magic come to life with each performance.

Showtimes at the Clune Center are Thursday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 17, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, May 18 at 4 p.m.; and Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults and may be reserved by calling 203-834-4844 or emailing whstix@wilton.k12.ct.us.
