Kobsa wins P.E.O. STAR Scholarship

Wilton High School senior Jessica Kobsa was awarded a $2,500 P.E.O. STAR Scholarship for the 2015-16 academic year during the May meeting of the Wilton P.E.O. Chapter AL.

Jessica, daughter of Carolyn and Peter Kobsa, will attend Dartmouth College in the fall, where she plans to study linguistics, classics or Spanish while taking the required pre-med courses.

The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship is awarded based on excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for future success.

In April, Jessica received the 2016 Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) Student Leadership Award for her leadership skills.

The program is open to young women, recommended by a P.E.O. chapter, who are citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States or Canada and who are graduating high school seniors at the time of application.

The P.E.O. Sisterhood is an international philanthropic and educational organization that promotes increased educational opportunities for women.

There are nearly 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada with almost 250,000 initiated members. The organization has provided more than $280 million in financial assistance to more than 98,000 recipients.
