First graders raise $40 for United Way

By recycling water bottles, Dianne Nelson’s first grade class raised money for United Way.

The Miller-Driscoll first graders recently presented the $40 they raised to Faith Douglass, resource development director of United Way of Coastal Fairfield County.

Ms. Nelson’s class decided to raise money for United Way as one of their monthly random acts of kindness.

Over several weeks, Ms. Nelson said, the class saved their bottles and recycled them at the local grocery store redemption center.

“United Way of Coastal Fairfield County helps children in need in the areas of education, financial stability and health,” said Ms. Nelson.

“It is a true act of kindness for Miller-Driscoll’s first grade class to give to other children who are in need.”
