Better late than never: Wilton schools are open

A week later than they normally would have gone, and days after their friends in nearby towns, Wilton students returned to school on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The opening of school was delayed to accommodate construction work at Miller-Driscoll School, allowing an extra week with children not in school for the renovation project.

As it stands, Phase I of the project, which began last December, will be completed next month. Phase II encompassed the work done this summer. Two more phases remain before the project is completed by Labor Day of 2017.

An update on the work done to date, work still to be done, and how it might affect students, teachers and staff has been made available in question-and-answer format. It may be accessed at and on the Miller-Driscoll Building Committee website at

The information addresses issues such as possible traffic congestion, improvements and changes to the grounds and buildings, parking, student drop -off and pick-up, playgrounds, hazmat abatement, and continuing construction.
