Boots USA Retail, headquartered in Norwalk, made tracks for the first time at this years\u2019 Relay For Life by signing on as a National Corporate Team Partner with the American Cancer Society.More than 20 teams of staff\/families from Boots USA Retail across the country have raised more than $60,000 to support the society. Here in Fairfield County, the Norwalk headquarters team celebrated the title as \u201cnumber one fundraising team\u201d for the Relay For Life of Wilton, raising nearly $20,000 at the May 29th event.Relay For Life of Wilton event chairs Sara Augenbraun and Mary Ann Lutz received the check from Andy Parkin, Boots director of finance and Jac Coble, VP of Sales and Operation for Boots Retail USA. Jac has been a cancer caregiver and shared her personal journey of strength and support and the importance of Relay For Life during the Wilton opening ceremony.The team joined with more than 500 local residents, setting up campsites at Wilton High School field, taking turns walking or running around the track. Cancer survivors and caregivers took a celebratory first lap to start.\u201cIt was very inspirational to see people from all parts of the lower Fairfield County community fight back against cancer,\u201d said Patrice Lestrange, communications director for the American Cancer Society. \u201cTogether, we celebrated those surviving cancer, remembered loved ones lost too soon, and took action to finish the fight once and for all.\u201dNational Corporate Team ProgramRelay For Life National Corporate Team Program is designed to recognize, support, and further develop volunteerism and philanthropy in the corporate and health systems community through involvement in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life initiative nationwide. \u201cThis program is an unparalleled opportunity to engage a company\u2019s customers, employees, and communities in the fight against cancer, while showcasing the company\u2019s social responsibility both nationwide and in local communities\u201d added Nielsen.It\u2019s not too late to join Relay, as events are held throughout Connecticut in June and in September.
