The milling and paving of state and local roads, originally scheduled to begin Oct. 12, has been pushed back, according to the Wilton Police Department.
The paving of Route 106 from Chestnut Hill Road at the intersection of Cedar Road to Wolfpit Road and the intersection of Belden Hill Road will begin on Sunday evening, Oct. 18. The state Department of Transportation will begin paving at the Cedar Road intersection and head northwest until it finishes at the intersection of Belden Hill Road. Route 7 will not be paved.
The hours of operation are 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. The work is expected to take four nights, with a tentative completion time of 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23. Police officers and flaggers will be assisting with traffic.
Paving of Horseshoe Road was to begin today, Oct. 15, at 7:30 a.m. and will continue until 5:30 p.m. or later. The paving should be completed on Thursday but if not, it will be completed on Friday.
Police ask that only local traffic use these roads during the paving period and to expect heavy delays throughout the day especially during rush hour times. It would be beneficial if those traversing Wilton Center today to use the Route 33 (North) entrance to enter and exit.
The actual paving area is the section of River Road and Horseshoe Road, south of 15 River Road (Starbucks Complex) to Wolfpit Road (Route 106).
There will be flaggers and police officers assisting with traffic.
