Icy morning with a little snow

The snow falling in Wilton and southwestern Connecticut this morning will not amount to much on the roads but will continue for much of the morning.

“Bands of light to moderate snow will continue to pivot across the area this morning with a light accumulation possible — especially on untreated roadways and walkways. Motorists need to be alert for icy travel,” according to a special weather statement from the National Weather Service.

Winds of 10 to 14 mph will make the 35 degree high on Thursday feel more like 20 to 25, according to the weather service.

Total accumulation on Thursday is expected to be less than a half inch in southern Fairfield County.

There could be more flurries Thursday night as the low drops to 25.

Friday’s high is expected to be near 39 — but with wind chill will make it feel like it is between 20 and 30. Friday’s low is expected to be around 26; the wind chill could make it feel as cold as 20.

For the weekend, it is expected to warmer. Saturday’s high could be near 42 with a northwest wind of eight to 11 mph; Saturday’s low will be around 29. On Sunday, the high is expected to be 44 with a nighttime low of 31.

As of now, there is no snow in the forecast for the next week.
