Gas line construction continues

A construction update from First Selectman Bill Brennan says work on the natural gas pipeline will continue this week in the following areas.

• One crew from GPL Construction will continue the installation of pipe on School Road and then begin construction on the Norwalk River Valley Trail.Only a segment of the trail will be closed during construction activities. It is anticipated this crew will install approximately 200 feet of pipe a day.

• A second crew from GPL Construction will install service to Cider Mill School and the Village Market. This crew will also finish construction in the Business District zone.

• One crew from Henkels & McCoy will continue with the installation of pipe on Wolfpit Road (Rte. 106).

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained and passage of emergency vehicles through the construction site will be a priority.

Police officers or flagmen will oversee traffic control.

Work is expected to continue through the end of November.
