Wilton businesses partner to create holiday gift guide

When Wiltonians check their mailboxes this morning, they may find a missive from their retail neighbors.

Seven Wilton business owners have teamed up to create a gift guide to encourage residents to shop local this holiday season. The group wants people to not only see the products they have to offer, but also let shoppers see the faces behind the businesses.

The gift guide will be delivered to Wilton homes on Thursday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 6. One side highlights 12 gift items that may be purchased locally. The other side has photos and profiles of six of the business owners and shares a little bit about each one's connection to the town.

“It can be quite expensive for small businesses to invest in advertising on their own. This is a great way to share the cost and let people see that there are a lot of unique gift options right here in our own town being created and sold by your neighbors,” Megan LaBant Abrahamsen of Blue Star Bazaar said.

In addition to Blue Star Bazaar, a boutique for women and children, participating businesses are Judee Beardsley Framing (traveling framer), Nod Hill Soap (handmade soap, bath, and body products), Painted Cookie (nut- free cookie shop), A Single Strand (jewelry and accessories), Southern Yankee (baby gifts featuring vintage linens and monogramming), and Wilton Artisans (jewelry inspired by the sea).
