Webster videos help elders avoid fraud

On Sept. 3, Webster Bank posted video vignettes to YouTube and their own website made to educate senior citizens about certain fraudulent schemes of which they are often the targets.
According to a press release, “From travel scams to false promises, sadly, seniors are often the targets of financial fraud and exploitation — sometimes even the victims of the very people they know and trust the most.”
The videos feature Kim Syrop, senior vice president, Fraud and Loss Management, giving information as to what types of people are in positions to access and exploit seniors’ financial accounts and what seniors can do to “understand, identify and respond to fraud.”
The videos also include contact information seniors can use if they suspect fraudulent activity.
Webster Bank is a northeastern regional bank with a location in Wilton.
