Eric Xie, recently featured in The Bulletin for opening a new Chinese restaurant in Wilton, Ren Dumpling & Noodle House, donated all of the proceeds from his opening weekend (Oct. 23-25) to the Riverbrook Regional YMCA. On Nov. 15, Xie and Ren co-owner Mei Chen, formally presented a check totalling $10,282.28, to Riverbrook Regional’s Wilton Family Y branch. Accepting on behalf of the organization was Riverbrook Regional YMCA CEO Bob McDowell.

“It’s just real exciting that Chef Eric and Mei Chen have the confidence in the services we provide on a daily basis and that they’re supporting our work directly here in the Norwalk and Wilton communities,” he said.

Xie said, “We’re proud to be giving back to the YMCA and to serve the community here.” At the presentation were state Sens. Tony Hwang and Toni Boucher, who helped Xie coordinate his donation. The Riverbrook Regional YMCA is a member-supported charitable organization dedicated to promoting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility that provides services to 134,000 residents across Wilton, Norwalk, Georgetown and Redding.
