ROAR isn't laughing

Wilton residents expecting to see their annual invitation to Roar with Laughter, the longtime ROAR fund-raiser comedy and auction event, might find it at the dead letter office of the U.S. Postal Service.

In a frustration and setback for organizers of the popular event, it appears the hundreds of invitations dropped off at the Danbury Post Office on Jan. 14 are nowhere to be found.

The event, Saturday, Feb. 28, will still go on, featuring the comedy of Ross Bennett, music by J. and B. Jazz Trio, dinner by the bite by Collyer Catering of Westport, open bar and a silent and live auction. There will also be a presentation of community service awards. Sponsors include the Canine Company and Blue Buffalo of Wilton.

ROAR is asking all those who are interested in attending to go to roar-ridgefield.org to sign up. ROAR is also sending out emails to hundreds on their list.

But, as Pam Rybarczyk, co-chair of the event for past five years, says, “We get most of our response from the actual mailed invitation.”

“People look forward to it and if they don’t get it they may think that we’re delaying it or not putting it on.

“We’re putting it on and it’s going to be a great event this year. Go to the website or call me and I’ll get you an invitation,” she said. Her phone number is 203-664-1235.
