Three years after it was formed, the Wilton Economic Development Commission has delivered a website designed as a resource for businesses considering moving into or expanding in Wilton. The site is wiltonedc.org.
“The launch of a first website is an opportunity for decision makers and their families to explore both the business and lifestyle of Wilton as a community,” a press release from the commission said.
The site, which has been under development for more than a year, has a home page featuring changing images of the Wilton train station and portraits of Wilton’s larger commercial buildings.
Several windows focus on Wilton’s diversity of open spaces, downtown area and corporate office space; the town’s location within Fairfield County and proximity to New York City as well as its many transportation options; the local talent pool; and its business-friendly atmosphere.
In addition it highlights Wilton’s schools, arts community and recreation offerings,  as well as the commission’s partnerships with the Wilton Chamber of Commerce, CT for Business and Connecticut Economic Resource Center. There is also a gallery of photos.
“Our objective with this site was to create a virtual library of resources and links to help businesses easily find the information they need when considering a move to Wilton, commission member Chris Fuentes said. “Wilton has created a foundation with WiltonEDC.org to build on as a dynamic business tool.”
Commission Chairman Peter Gaboriault described the website as a “cornerstone” of its effort to help build new business opportunities in Wilton.
The website is expected to cost the town $3,500 per year for content maintenance and service, paid to MacNeil Johnson’s company LightSites, as well as $3,000 per year for search engine optimization (SEO) services.
The Wilton Economic Development Commission, established in 2012 by the Board of Selectmen, is comprised of volunteer residents with backgrounds in real estate, construction, town planning and land use.
