Former resident made Food Network, Cooking Channel executive

Deirdre “Didi” O’Hearn, who grew up in Wilton and attended Wilton schools, graduating from Wilton High School in 1979, was recently promoted by Scripps Networks Interactive to an executive’s role at Food Network and Cooking Channel.
On Jan. 31, O’Hearn will take responsibility for leading the programming and development team for both Food Network and Cooking Channel, brands owned by Scripps Networks Interactive.
She will oversee the programming team, lead all development strategy for programming across both networks, identify and develop new network talent, and manage relationships with outside production partners.
“Since joining Food Network and Cooking Channel in 2014, it was quickly apparent that Didi’s skills and expertise represent exactly the creative leadership our beloved brands require,” said Kathleen Finch, Scripps Networks Interactive’s chief programing, content and brand officer, to whom O’Hearn will now report.
“She was a driving force behind 2015’s successful programming slate, with titles such as Chopped Junior and Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition as just two examples of Didi’s creative instinct driving double-digit ratings gains.”
Before joining Food Network and Cooking Channel, O’Hearn was vice president of development and talent at WE tv. Prior to that, O’Hearn spent 16 years at A& E Television Networks.
She also worked at Biography Channel as director of programming. There, O’Hearn served as executive producer of the Emmy Award-winning series Biography.
O’Hearn is a graduate of Amherst College and received her master’s degree from Columbia School of Journalism. She lives in New York City with her husband and two sons.
