Northwestern Mutual moving to Stamford
Northwestern Mutual Bender Financial Group, headed by Wiltonian and chief managing partner J. Phillip Bender, has moved to 400 Atlantic Street in Stamford. It is being rebranded as Northwestern Mutual — Stamford.
Mr. Bender said the company occupies 18,000 square feet in the building. It was previously in Westport.
“The move will make it easier to service our customers because of Stamford’s presence as the business hub of Fairfield County as well as its proximity to the train station,” Mr. Bender said.
Northwestern Mutual is a 150-year-old insurance company based in Milwaukee, Wis.
Deloitte employee honored
Frank D’Acunta of Norwalk was honored by STAR Inc., Lighting the Way, at its 61st Annual Meeting and Recognition Awards event on Monday, Oct. 28.
Mr. D’Acunta is a 21-year veteran of Deloitte Services LP based in Wilton. At the ceremony, he was awarded the Jeanette Shivers Award for going “above and beyond” because of his positive attitude and strong work ethic.
At the ceremony, Mary McGee of Deloitte explained that Mr. D’Acunta handled mail center service and box delivery as well as supplies during his 21-year tenure, always offering to help where necessary.
Well aged furniture
The Hitchcock Chair Company, recently announced plans to open a new storefront showroom on Route 7 in Wilton on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 to 5.
The furniture company, which first put down roots in Connecticut in the early 1800s, was closed from 2006 to 2010, when it was purchased by craftsmen Rick Swenson, Gary Hath, and David McCarthy.
Hitchcock furniture is reknowned for elaborate stencil designs, as well as complementary striping and banding to accent the contours. The grand opening celebration will include giveaways and special discount prices.
