More than 250 people have taken advantage of the SeeClickFix platform the town subscribed to last month that allows residents to report such non-emergency neighborhood problems as potholes, downed trees, and traffic safety or park and playground issues. These issues are then reported directly to the appropriate town department to address and resolve. Free SeeClickFix Web-based and mobile app tools allow pictures, videos, and other information to be reported. On the town\u2019s end, the platform provides a centralized issue management system for officials. How an issue makes its way along the chain of command is visible to users. The platform has been used recently to report such issues as a leaky faucet at the high school tennis courts, blighted property, overgrown vegetation, street lights on the wrong schedule, and traffic safety. In the case of the street lights, which were coming on at the wrong time, the problem was reported on Nov. 15 and passed along to the Department of Public Works, which responded on the website on Nov. 17 that the issue had been addressed. Another resident brought up the issue of traffic safety on Nov. 15. Specifically, the person cited the number of drivers who run the red light at the intersection of Danbury Road and Sharp Hill Road. \u201cEveryone knows the police are going to be in the Commuter Lot or on Wolfpit looking for speeders, but they run that red light (usually going southbound) as the police can\u2019t see that far up Route 7,\u201d the person reporting the issue said. The matter was referred to the police department, which responded the same day that patrols would be sent to monitor the issue. Other agencies responding to posts include Parks and Recreation, the office of the first selectman, and Wilton Social Services. \u201cWe are very excited to launch SeeClickFix in Wilton,\u201d First Selectman Lynne Vanderslice said in a press release announcing adoption of the program. \u201cIt will provide our residents with an online and mobile platform to identify and directly report non-emergency issues to the appropriate town department in a more efficient manner for them and the town. Our residents have asked for more online government services and SeeClickFix will facilitate communication with residents and respond to their needs more efficiently. \u201cWe also hope SeeClickFix will empower our residents to collaborate in the care of our town.\u201d Residents may not only report problems but also view, comment on, and vote to fix problems submitted by their neighbors. Citizens may create their own \u201cwatch areas\u201d to receive notifications about all the issues reported in their neighborhood, enabling them to follow the progress of all service requests. The SeeClickFix mobile app is available for download on Android, iPhone and BlackBerry. Reports may also be sent to the town website, wiltonct.org, or seeclickfix.com.
