George Malkemus, who co-founded Bantam-based Arethusa Farm Dairy with partner Tony Yurgaitis, died last week after a long illness, Arethusa representatives announced Friday. He was 67.
The dairy farm entrepreneur was also known in the fashion world. He and Yurgaitis were executives for Manolo Blahnik luxury shoe brand before starting their farm. According to Vogue, "In the early 1980s, the Bergdorf Goodman copywriter traded his stylus for the world of satin and stilt-like heels and helped launch Manolo Blahnik in the United States."
